Aceasta este una dintre cele mai vizitate destinații elene, în special de balcanici, in mod deosebit datorită plajelor superbe cu nisip fin și apă turcoaz, peisajului montan, pădurilor de pini și măslini, dar și pentru serviciile calitative, atmosfera autentica și tavernele cu preparate delicioase.
Zona de nord a Greciei este de departe cea mai preferată de români.
Un obiectiv turistic important din Halkidiki este peștera din Petralona, în care au fost aduse la lumină urme Archanthropinae și descoperiri antropologice cu o vechime de aproximativ 700.000 ani. În plus, conform topografiei din Halkidiki, aici se afla și ascunzătoarea lui Hercule.
În Halkidiki, pe lângă plajele cu adevărat de vis, se întâlnesc peisaje naturale neatinse de om și pajiști cu flori sălbatice, care au fost desemnate zone protejate de rețeaua Natura.
